Inners??... I think there was a member that replaced their rack and pinion, but that was due to an accident....

This would be a new one, But it can happen....

They are a pain to change, but can be done. Sometimes it is beneficial to change the whole rack...

Easy enough to check them. Jack the front end off the ground either one side or both sides.

With the tire off the ground grab the tire in the front and the back, (as in front bumper and rear bumper).

Move your right hand in while your left hand goes out, (Wiggle it back and forth in a in and out way). In tiny little wiggles. If you feel it wiggling free and then stop then there is something loose. Like the ball fitting on the inner tie rod(s) may be worn.

Did I make sense or loose you???

Coastie, do you wiggle, stop, rotate the wheel some, and wiggle again? Or just wiggle some in the same wheel position?

If you were to grab your steering wheel and wiggle it left and right about an inch the tire(s) would do the same. Basically, you need to move the tires in the same motion with out turning the steering wheel though. Your hands need to be on the tire.

Move it small amounts, back and forth fairly quick. If there is no click click or free-play then your good to go.

If you can move the tire and the steering wheel does not move then either a inner or outer tie rod is defective.

Is that more clear????????
