I'm having a problem with the interior air flow regulation. The variable blower fan works good except it only operates in defrost mode. I cannot direct where the air blows. It just started this afternoon when I used defrost mode due to heavy rain and the wind shield started fogging. Parked for several hours at the destination I arrived at, then when leaving I noticed that I couldn't adjust where I wanted the air to blow. Any help would be great.

Lookfor any vacuum hose, that might have fell off under the dash. Im not familiar with the gen2. The gen1 has a vacuum line on the pasenger side. It gets kicked off sometimes. Then the plenum door defaults to the defrost mode.

A couple of years ago the HVAC control went haywire on my 07 ST. Could not control modes or fan speed. I fixed it easily by replacing the fan controller that is mounted on ducting behind the glove box. My DIY is posted here:

Bottom line is, you has a vacuum leak or defective component such as the selector mechanism. It defaults to defroster for safety reasons when there is an issue with the control to the door.

@hawk99 - I forgot to ask: Do you have the electronic HVAC controls or the analog? Fix I mentioned in previous post is for the electronic kit.

My 09 doesn't go into recirc. has the dual temp control. Covered under the extended warranty, they are replacing it, along with the throttle body and the door hinge... Interesting, the 01 already seems a better truck...

I agree, my 03 to this day has not needed as much attention as my 07 has required in the short time I've owned it. But still I love this truck. It drives so sweet in comparison.

:fire:My own stupidity. Previously, I replaced my blower motor for my ST because it was failing. Installed a new one. I see that when I installed the new blower motor the vacuum lines that ran behind the motor housing got caught up in the blower motor seal causing them to pinch. Basically cutting the vacuum line that feeds into the vacuum tank (ball) next to the blower motor. Anyway, removed the blower motor, moved the vacuum lines out of the way and fixed the crimp that was in the lines and presto a/c works normal again.

Thanks alot for all the input, thank God it wasn't anything serious.:supercool:
