intermittent light malfunction

Last night I stepped outside and noticed the dome light and outside light (brake/backup light over the rear window) were both on, but then they went off. This happened again several minutes later. I've checked all the doors, and the dome light and outside light properly go on and fade off after the doors are opened, but obviously they are not staying off. The problem is intermittent - seems OK at the moment. Any suggestions?

One of the door switches is not seating properly. Try spraying some wd-40 all up inside the door latches.
