I just came back from a month in Thailand and saw this Ford Ranger over there. Is this the new version of a Sport Trac. Not a bad looking vehicle!!

Yeah, that's the overseas four door Ranger. Looks like a Nissan and Toyota mated and had a baby truck. Fugly looking IMO, just doesn't look right. Maybe if I saw one all oufitted with aftermarket stuff on it maybe.

No, it's not scheduled to come here the the U.S.. They (Ford) is hoping the F-150 will satisfy loyal ST owners when we have to replace our ST's. They (Ford) forgot that the reason for the ST is because alot of people buy the midsize trucks (ST,Ranger, etc) simply due to the fact we don't want/ need a fullsize truck. IMO Ford is going to loose BIG on their sales simply because they won't have a midzize quadcab truck anymore especially since the gas prices are hiking back up. :smack::driving:

19Gator,

Welcome to the site.

As Jerry helpfully indicated, the truck you saw overseas isn't slated for the US market. In Ford's infinite wisdom, they seem to think that people here don't want a small, 4-door, versatile cargo/people hauler with a bed. Or, maybe if they do, they are planning to go another way. Seems stupid to me. In this global economy, an auto manufacturer has to have fewer, more popular models that they sell to more countries in order to compete.

Others here understood what you were asking. Don't let the short, uinformative posts by the self-proclaimed "most helpful on MYST" members get you down. :)

OMFG.. the front grill on that thing looks like they were trying to "funkify" the ST's grill..

I'm going to call "epic fail" on that one.

The best answers are short. Ford is not replacing the Sport Trac. I am sure it has been made pretty cear that Ford as abonding the small truck market in the USA.

Not really much to elaborate on a simple question.

Caymen,

Obviously it wasn't clear that Ford was abandoning the small truck market to all folks, lest the question wouldn't have been asked, I suppose.

I'm abandoning this thread for now. :)

On topic, That looks like it has a true frame under the bed, so would that be a previous 4 door ranger? IE, will the new overseas ones be unibody?

hey now jerry, that wasn't nice :haveabeer:

my 4runner looks more like a REAL truck

[Broken External Image]:

actually, that ranger doesn't look bad (minus the graphics)
