Anyone have the pleasure of serving Jury Duty this coming week? I have it for the second time in 2 years. Lucky me:rolleyes:. Last year when I had to serve I got picked every day.

I am not allowed to play but in rare cases where there is almost no legal concerns with being a Federal Employee or Police oriented.

Has to be things like John Q. Public suing the city because they are taking his land and what not...

Gee,,, I miss all the fun....

When you get to the Jury Selection, jump up and ask, 'Is this going to be murder case, and are you going to get to Fry somebody? And to top it off ask, 'What race the person is?'

I'm with you, Coastie... I have family members in law enforcement, so IF I get called, after stating that I have family members in law enforcement, I get dismissed.... I go in and say, "If they're in here they're guilty, UNLESS they're in here for marijuana, then I ain't putting no one in jail!!!" :)

Since 1977 I've had to report 7 times to my local jury duty.I have gotten in the selection process 4 of the 7 times but have never gotten selected for a trial.I'am beginning to get a complex.

I don't mind going to jury duty ,but I do wonder how I get called so many times and other people never get called.

Maybe I'm on their junk mail list!

I think serving on a jury is one of those civic duties that we sometimes take way too lightly. Yeah it can be a pain, and lots of people seem to make a joke of it, but let it be you that is on trial, and you'll want 12 competent, serious people who are paying attention. I saw a judge haul a guy off to jail for contempt of court for making some stupid remark while trying to get out of duty. Now that's funny!

Been called many times and have been on 2 juries. Part of living in this country... Sometimes it's a pain, but then I think of what we have here, and it doesn't seem as much of a problem. I seemed to be on a list too for a while, getting called about every 2-3 years, but for some reason, have not got a notice for 4-5 years now... Of course, now that I said that, I'll probably have one in my mail today! :)

Getting out of jury duty is one of the benefits of holding a peace officer certification. I know it's our "civic duty" but I would feel better about it if our justice system was not so screwed up.
