I just put on Monroe Reflexes. Easy project! About 10 minutes each for the fronts, and about 25 for the rears. One of the stock shocks didn't even work; when I compressed it, it stayed. The others were completely useless as well. It would have probably handled the same with no shocks at all, maybe even better, lol. I took it for a test drive and I was absolutely amazed. The ST drives like a different vehicle. It has no more body roll and bounce; it feels much more stable. This was an easy project and well worth the time. I can't believe I've gone for 38,000 miles on those crappy stock shocks. New shocks are definitely a must! Happy Holidays,

S'all right, I had a brand-new Pro Comp ES9000 right out of the box do the same thing. Called the mail-order house and they tried to tell me that was "normal". I said "Well, the other one wants to grow, so which one is defective?" Long silence....."Uh, just send them back, we'll give you a refund."

I put some reflex's on about 6 months ago and the ride improvement was dramatic. Obviously a bit stiffer (considering how weak the stock shocks were) but what a fantastic improvement in handling.

I think some forum members are a little over the top on their mods (nuthin' like JEEP owners however) but not when it comes to shocks. It has been said here many times, everyone should replace those stock shocks ASAP. My 2004 had around 15000 miles on it at the time and I wish I would have done it sooner.

The one I took off had no resistance at all. You could push it in and pull it out with no effort. It was like it was empty; the others seem to have some sort of fluid in them that provide resistance to compression. (sorry, don't know a lot about the way they work, I just jow that this one didn't.) Anyway, don't you love how salesman tell you that defective items are "normal."

Around where I live (in the Chicago area), Sears is running a sale this week for Monroe shocks. The Monroe Sensa-tracs were about $35-40 a piece with free installation. I was considering this myself, but just dropped $500.00 to replace my Wrangler RT/S tires.

Better shocks = longer tire life. Cupping problems that have been reported here are due entirely to the bad stock shocks on the Trac.
