Knock-sensors?

Do gen1 motors have knock-sensors? Just wondering if using 91 octane is pointless unless I use a tuner. Thanks.
 
IMO, without being tuned for it. There is no advantage. Stock tune with 87 is good as it gets.

Not sure about the knock sensor.
 
They do.... I believe it is the Detonation Sensor....



It is a 2 wire item, I believe it is that plug on the Right front of the engine on top next to the TB...

They are a big part of a Non FI car..... bad gas, maintenance, Emissions, they all need the sensor to work.....



With the OEM computer trying to keep the engine running at 14.7 Stoic, thats right on the cusp of lean and rich....



Run a little lean and not know it, you will damage the engine....
