I'm looking to get some new tires for my Jeep Commander and the tires I'm thinking about only come in load range E. Does anyone have any experience running E's on a less than 1 ton pickup?

In case it matters I'm thinking of getting Goodyear Duratracs 245/75/17 to replace my stock Goodyear Fortera HL Edition 245/65/17. The 75 size is the tallest I can run without a bigger lift and wheel spacers.

It will be like riding on rocks. E is too much. I have E's on my work van with all the weight and it still sucks.

I would say that E's would be too much for the commander, mainy because the jeep is kinda lightweight compared to a 4000+ lb Trac... It would ride stiffer, my educated guess... HTH

Jacob, just go with Load range D tires and you'll be set for towing anything with the Commander and not have any isssues. I would have to agree that E range tires would be abit stiff for the vehicle and may cause damage to suspension components, JMO.

i guess i got the compass and commander corn-fuzzed.. the range is 4581 to 5169 lbs...

if you get the E's, look up the inflation chart and inflat for the load you have on them... door sticker pressures don't apply... The LT's that i run only get inflated to 30 psi when i am not towing, 50 when towing the RV
