Anyone have an easy suggestion for locking the gas access either by the cap or the door. With gas prices these high im surprised more people arnt getting their gas self-serve siphon discount. Have always been paranoid with sugar in the gas tank by a revengeful neighbor or ex-girlfriend.

My first purchase for my ST was a locking gas cap. I think the brand is Stanley. It was a few bucks cheaper at Walmart vs Kragens/Autozone.

First off, you cannot siphon gas from the ST or any other vehicle made in at least the last 10 years. So if your worried about that then don't be. A few people have bought locking caps because they fear vandalism.

One thing to make your locking cap easier to operate, CUT off the stupid holding strap...

I hated mine until i cut that strap, Not I have no problems with it...

I assumed there would be a screen in the filler so it cant be siphoned, wasnt sure if Ford saw it as an extra cost so they offered it as an upgrade package. LOL

I would trade in a cup holder for a locking gas door.

Made a locking gas door for and old Chevy SW I had many years ago using parts from an electric trunk release mechanism from a GM donor car at the junk yard. Took the switch for the trunk release out of the glove box and the solenoid from the trunk latch. Hardest part was getting access to the gas fill area from the inside to mount the solenoid on the SW. Made a latch for the filler door out of plastic bar stock, glued to the filler door with industrial strength super glue.
