Hi all,

Hating myself about now. Dropped my keys in the river somewhere. Can't find the spare. And in addition to hating myself, I also find that I hate Ford for charging me to have two new keys................

Life goes on.....

It actually was not that bad - considering the avg cost of vehicle repairs....

But condisdering it likely took about 1/2 hour, the $125 fee seemed a bit overkill.....

Hey Benny,

Make sure you NOW buy a third key and program it in case you lose another one.:supercool:

(In case you didn't know, it takes two keys to program a third one. That is so a valet can't cut and program a key from the one they have.)

You can buy the single key from many outlets and then get it cut anywhere and then program the key yourself.

Our Ford supplier here will probably give you a good price on the key.

If not, they are all over eBay as well...

any good hardware store should be able to cut and program a new key for around 70 to 80 bucks. The newer programs also eliminate the need for the 2nd key they can do it with one key now. I used to work in a hardware store and am leary of keys bought from a third party usually they are the wrong key.

just my 2 cents

Cheapest solutions is to get a PATS key for your make/model off a reputable seller on eBay, get it cut at any hardware store, and program yourself using your two, existing keys. Then, stick the new, programmed key in your sock drawer.

Problem solved. Anyone driving off a lot with a new car that uses PATS keys should do this. Costs less than $20 for the spare key.

Of course, for Benny, this means he needs to work with Ford to get two working keys first.
