Had my dealer's repair guys check the rear differential level during an oil change. Good decision. They added 1.1 quarts. I really should have them replace that leaking pinion seal one of these days.

The oil change was $19.95. The differential fluid was $21.00. Killer.

Had the pinion seal replaced not too long ago. I was tired of crawling under there to add fluid to it... not to mention the stains on the driveway...

My front axle was leaking a little... right where the drive shat enters the differential... Is this the pinions seal that is being talked about? If so it this an expensive repair to have done?

It was $120 parts fluids and labor. The seal is a $10 part... It's mostly labor. Although it didn't take them long to do it (around an hour). It was worth it to me, to save myself all the aggravation of doing it myself.
