I agree with Caymen on this. I live in Europe. Could you imagine if we passed a law like this, and the EU then imposed the same on US citizens? I've lived in Poland for almost four years now. I can speak Polish, but I am far from fluent.

Big difference, you do not plan to stay in Poland and are there under military orders. Completely different situation. You cannot compare Europe to the United States. Europe is a continent, the United States is a country.
 
I do plan to stay here Les. I am retiring here. I have no plan to return to the US, except on vacation.



The EU is behaving more and more like a country. It prints it's own money. I writes its own laws. I has its own courts. It has told the US to treat all it countries equally regarding visas. The EU has threatened to restrict Americans visas the same as the US does towards its most restricted member. For instance, Polish citizens must have an approved visa from the embassy before they enter the US. Currently, Americans are allowed to travel EU countries for 90 days without a pre-approved visa.
