What brand is the best razor to buy? I need to get a new one tonight! My trusty ol' Norelco shaver bit the dust this morning.

Also- can you use a razor on your head, or does it have to be a blade?

THANKS!

I use Schick with the triple blades. Been using them for years and works great. I have a cheap Kmart cordless trimmer for my sideburns and beard. My brother shaves his head since he's balding pretty bad, I'll asking him what he uses and let ya know.

I use a Philips/Norelco shaver with the three floating heads. Don't know the model number. But I use it on my head every other day and it works great. Just don't go more than 2 days without shaving as you'll have to spend a bit of time to get it mowed down. Bob

I've used a Remington since I was 17 years old. Different, progressively newer models, of course.

I use a 1962 Gillette Slim Adjustable. I also use a badger hair brush with real shave cream. There is nothing better than a classic wet shave.

OK- After reading a lot of online reviews, I bought a Panasonic shaver (~$140) from Target last night. It does a pretty nice job of shaving, but has a few features I am not real happy with. Can't use while plugged-in (charging), kind of bulky for navigating, etc.

Haven't tried it on my head yet. I have been letting the head grow for the past few months and it is becoming a shaggy 3/4" in some places. Might get it weed-wacked down and then try the shaver on it.

A few years ago I came across a real novelty: single blade disposable razors. I was surprised when I tried them, and they worked better than the 3-4-5-6-7 blade models.

I have sensitive skin and a tough beard, so shaving usually means cuts, zits and ingrown beard hair. I've owned a dozen electric razors. Each basic kind has advantages and problems. The most expensive ones do a pretty good job, but still require a touch-up here and there with a razor. They're Yet Another Bulky Electrical Thing that I hate to have to remember to pack when I travel. When I lost the proprietary cord for my last $100+ electric razor, and couldn't get a replacement, I never got another. Maybe I'll get another when they make them so I can recharge them with a standard USB port...

Somewhere along the line I got a Gillette Mach 3 Turbo, which is a handle that you have to figure out what cartridges it takes when you run out of cartridges. It does a pretty good job, especially since I don't shave every day...or every week sometimes.

IMO, Phillips Norelco is the best there is. I had the last one last me 8 years before the head broke. New heads were $35.00 and a new shaver was $45.00. I went with a new shaver so I get a new battery.

When buying a cordless one, get a cordles/corded model so you can shave while plugged in.

I never use anything on my face. No pre-shave lotion or pre-shave powder. My Dad swears by pre-shave stuff, but needs new heads once a year. I never use anything and use the heads for 8 years.

Maybe his wiskers are tougher than mine. I don't know, but it works for me.

Gary has it right,You guys have no Idea what a great shave is until you use a tallow based shaving soap (no it do's not come in a can) a fine badger brush and a Gillette DE razor (with modern state of the art blades).

Is nothing finer.
