What kind of mileage are you getting out of a set of front brakes?

Your OEM's

Then your

MotorCrafts or other brands?

It really depends on your driving habits and where you drive (City or Highway) Generally, manual transmissions get a little better brake wear than Automatic transmissions if the driver downshifts...That saves on brakes at the expense of extra engine and clutch wear.

I am hard on brakes, but I still get about 45K-50K miles for the front pads and 2-3 times that on the rear brakes.

Some people have gotten less than 20K miles on the original front pads, and others have gotten at or close to Gavin's 80K miles.

...Rich

Main factors are type and style of driving:

Hard City Driving could be as little as 15,000 miles...

Normal driving with mostly highway miles could equal

60 or 70,000 miles.

I still pull my wheels once a year to inspect. Like the other

person said, this givs you a chance to inspect for mechanical problems

(sticking calipers, etc...) before major problems get out of hand.:)

I'm at 58K and still penty of pad left on the fronts. I'm pretty easy on brakes however I will be giving my ST to my daughter in May when she turns 16 so I figure I will replace them right before that and then say a pray for the ST! :D

I am up to 37K and I am still running the original pads with no problems. When I sold my '00 Explorer, it had 100K and still had the original front and rear pads...I am not normally hard on brakes but I do have to hit them pretty hard when people stop in front of me, etc. which happens often around here.

Bought my ST from a place in pittsburgh and it was a dealer demo. Got 15K out of the OEM fronts and they were absolutely shot. I've gotten so far almost 48k miles out of the Ceramics I replaced them with (more country driving here). So far the OEM rears are still on (63k miles). Going to give it a new set all round this summer. Hopefully will be the last time I have to do it before I trade it in on a new ST in a couple years.;)

I drive my ST like it's a race car mostly. I got over 70K out of the front brakes before I replaced them . Would have gone longer but I managed to warp one of the rotors so I replaced with slotted and drilled rotors and wagner quiet stop pads. Rears are still original with plenty of life left on them. 105K on the truck
