So my buddy with the Ford Explorer that I've posted about had an unfortunate encounter with some black ice and some county road signs that have put it out of action, and since his beloved Honda Fit can't even see over the massive mounds of snow, he had to break out his emergency car, an Isuzu Trooper II.

Which puts it solidly before 1989 for year of sale, though he tells me that he got that sucker long before then, somewhere from 81 to 89, and it hasn't moved outside the block for a decade afaik.

I hardly believe the thing could move, and move it can, all too well as it turns out that its brakes died right after it started, throwing a brake light, so he made it to my house and after some quick shoveling, we managed to dig a hole out for that sucker to go in the snow...as far away from the ST and the house as possible, to avoid guilt by association, and the ST doesn't play well with imports anyhow ;)

So then I find out that it not only lacks brakes, but it has no emergency brake, has no heat, and has no 4wd low. (It has them, but these features are dead).

And it's an underpowered ride with a manual transmission, and both of us are sadly rusty with the manual. Some day I'll get a manual Escort to play with and join the Caymen Coallition.

So for the moment I have a new lawn ornament, as God only knows what is wrong with that thing, and how long it'll stay on the side of the front lawn.

The "vehicle" is suitable only to be downrange of this :fire:

Friggin snow. I don't want anymore.

 Kinda ashamed to be seen with a camera near that "vehicle"...and it might break the camera.

and the Explorer, well, I gotta respect fallen heroes ;)

(Where's the winking smiley?)

Here's a picture of both my new (temporary) lawn ornament and a section of yard ravaged by the ST trying to escape.

The Trooper (a disgrace to something of the same name) looks innocent, but looks are deceiving. Nigh ran me over trying to get into that spot, since it can't stop except by engine braking...or hitting something.
