I have a 2 wheel drive ST. Half price sale at Sears, I wanted to order the 911177 (for 4x2) for the front, but the order was placed with 911122 (4x4). The -77 is a monotube, the -22 is a twintube. Monroe recommends the -77 for 2wd and the -22 for 4wd.

Are the mounts the same? And what performance differences might there be?

Mounts are the same. I have the Rancho rsx that are the 4x4 version on my 4x2 trac. The reflex is the same shock as the rsx. The only difference is the poly bushing and silcone boots on the shaft of the rsx. Both brands are made by Tenneco. You will be ok.

There is a difference, but it has to do with the 4x2 shocks being mounted on a 4x4 trac. I know Todd Z ran into a problem there. I think in a 4x4 the front axle rubs against the bottom of the 4x2 shock. But you are in the clear.
