Muffler ??

I was wondering about these new generation stock ford mufflers. The odd ball ones that look like a converter. Has anyone ever seen the inside of one? I watched a flowmaster tech video once. The guy made a comment that flowmaster and ford were in the process of developing a quiet, high flow baffle design muffler. I was wondering if these might be it? My wifes Escape has the type muffler Iam refering to. And yes it is a muffler not a cat but it looks simular a cat-converter....

I'm putting a Gibson exhaust on my '08 this week sometime. I'll let you know what the muffler looks like if I can see into it. I could be wrong but I'm thinking that any muffler that big and that quiet has got to be restrictive.
