Ok, before I start, I know it's a HP but I've had one for the last 4 years and untill recently, no problems. I got my new computer today and am still getting things transferred. Let me know your two cents. I liked the price for what I was getting. (main reason for purchase);)

Looks OK. Need another 512 of RAM, especially with the onboard video sucking it down.

No software? I remember when MS-Office was standard on every PC.

Here's another great deal:

Yeah, it had MS-Office trial CD. I have a MS-Office Pro to put on it already. I also have a extra 256MB memory card in the old one that is compatable I may put into it. I just had it put in the old one in Mar. of this year.;)

Seeing the name Radio Shack usually biases me from the start (I'm an electrical engineer), but HP makes a fairly sound system. In the days when I was worked as sys admin for a medical company, the HP systems either worked out of the box, or didn't work at all.

I agree with upping the RAM if you do more than surf the web and email from it.

Those 9-in-1 media readers are handy when you are trying to download pics from your digital camera. Sure beats using the camera software to get your pics onto your hard drive.

We use H/P computers here in my office, and I've found them to be more reliable than the IBM's we also purchase. I've got H/P computers in enclosed cabinets in kiosks at our rental car counters than have ran 24/7/365 for over 2 years now.

About the only thing I dislike about it is the on board graphics like Gavin mentioned. Do you know if you can still add a seperate video card later?

Stonemiser, you could have built a kick'in Shuttle XPC based computer with 1GB memory, same size HD, a real 3d vid card and same size LCD screen for less than that, even with the OS. Not much less, but less anyway.

Gavin's TigerDirect find is a good one too. But, I would probably go HP over Gateway if all other things are considered...I have been supporting a lot of Gateways lately for people who are having hardware problems under warranty but who didn't get on the on-site replacement option (so I am doing the installing). But, everyone's performance varies.

While the H/P Pavilion a1116x-b doesn't have a AGP or Serial Bus card slot, it does have PCI slots, and you can still buy decent 3d PCI graphics cards with 256mb of ram which will perform quite well.
