I bought a long awaited new ride to go along with the ST & the Escalade.

After riding my Univega hard tail for the last 12 years, I broke out and bought a Specialized Stumpjumper Expert full suspension mountain bike on Saturday.

I took it on a short 'shakedown' run today. (13.5 miles)

I gotta say, it was money well spent! It's nice to be able to power over the rocks! I dropped it off to have the brakes reversed, as I spent the day telling myself "Right hand, right hand!" so as to not send myself over the handlebars, ( I ride 'Euro' style, with the rear brake on the left.) and to have a computer installed. (Yes, I'm lazy... but I can afford to be now! :) )

Nice ride! Check out the Garmin Edge gps instead of a computer. I use a Garmin Forerunner (the precursor to the Edge) when I ride, and it's nice to be able to track my rides using the Garmin software and be able to downlod the gps track to my computer.

Nice!!! I'm still riding a Klein Attitude Race hard tail. Love that bike. Full XTR, RockShox SID Race suspension fork, Thompson stem and post, Carbon Fiber Profile bar, Raceface Next LP Carbon Fiber cranks. Chris King Headset. I bought my wife last year a Seven Cycles. At that time there are components on it that weren't even released yet. Full suspension titanium at 24 LBS. Fox shocks are great.

Officially, I am... but I have a manager to take care of the day to day stuff. I WAS going to step in as the 'other' manager, but my friend who hires & fires managers for Chevys restaurants told me that if I did, it would be a 'train wreck waiting to happen!' (My bad temper)

So, I'm going to hire another manager and let them do their thing, and I'll do mine... I plan to continue working on the rental properties and spending a couple of days a week in Tahoe, like I've done the past couple of years. Only difference is now I've got a couple of bucks to buy some 'toys' and take my female friends out to do fun things...

Nice bike! I like the brake setup you have. I grew up racing motocross and the brakes on my bicycles always felt backwards. Nothing like grabbing a handful of front brake when you meant to just use the rear to kick the back out a bit.

Darin,

The tag said that the bike lists for $2800. It was on sale for $2500, and I got another $100 off, as the manager of the Tahoe Sports LTD store at the 'Y' is one of my old roommates... So it was $2586 out the door. Not bad, as I had planned on spending $2500 for a full suspension rig... Another $400 for a new Thule 'swingaway' bike rack for the rear hitch completed the deal. I'll pick the bike and the rack up on Thursday when I get to go back up the hill after a few days of working.

$2500? Dang. That's more then I paid for my first new car in 1972. But I bet yours gets better mpg.

Tom,

That was in 'the old days'... lol

I went from this old hardtail, which I 'motored' around Moab on for a week, and put MANY, MANY miles on...

To this...

So now my fat old arse can enjoy the ride! :) So I'd say it was worth it.

Krash: That is a beautiful bike... there is a lot of technology there, so I understand why it is so expensive. Guess I better save my pennies a bit longer :)

Nice bike! I to am on the specialized bandwagon!

Nothing like a little racing

Really nice!

Did you make it to Sears Point on Sunday? I almost went, but the memory of last year's post-race gridlock stopped me. Oh well, my boy won anyway.

And, what's the outcome on the ST? Is it back to normal?

Give me a call soon.

Paul,

No, I was in Tahoe all weekend, trying to hook up with my neighbors. I'm looking for a boat slip on my block, so I can buy a boat. (Bust Out Another Thousand!) Besides, it was WAY too hot down here! The ST is about as back to normal as it's gonna get. The lower bushings in the front are groaning again. The O/D light has flashed twice since I got it back, so I don't know for sure that the tranny's right. But since I'm a 2 SUV kind of guy now, it's been designated my work truck...

nice bike...

im still riding a cheap Giant DS2 Warp 2003
