NASTY!!!!!..............Stearing wheel

What can possibly be done to my stearing wheel to make it look better... i've tried almost every cleaner! SOmthing with easy maintanence... I would love to get an aftermarket wheel, but i don't want to lose the cruise control. Any advice?!

Armor all has leather wipes that I use on my stering wheel and they seem to work well.

My steering wheel is the same way. I just bought an aftermarket cover for it as a temporary fix. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what else I can do about it.

Hey Bling, where did you get those pedals (gas/brake)? Those are pretty sweet! Also, what's the gauge for right below the 4-wheel-drive button, below the dash? Boost Gauge maybe??

Pimped, the top and bottom part of my steering wheel is wood laminated. They actually cut a part out of the wheel and replace it with the wood laminate material and replace the existing leather too. So, no... it's not a cover.



Baron, the gas and brake pedal i had fabricated at the machine shop where i work. I couldn't find any aftermarket ones that suited to my style so i had it customized. The gauge is a air/fuel ratio meter from autometer. Not much purpose really, it just has funky lights that go back and forth whenever air/fuel gets into the engine. I'm planning to purchase the multi-function autometer gauge to replace it though. It was posted here a few weeks ago. Seem to look and function better.

Thanks! And yes it is a custom job. I had a choice of what type of wood laminate design to put and i chose the "dark black wood" type (although it looks like marble, yeah. Same design they use on benzs' interior). I chose to go that way 'cause I believe that the brown wood theme is already too common.



I had my window switches and handle bars ( for all four doors), steering wheel, center console, center dash, done and it set me back around $500, roughly. More pictures in my library if you wanna check it out!

I found a real leather steering wheel cover for my GMC when it's wheel started wearing through. It's not the cheap "lace-on" type seen for so long, but is instead a "stitch-on" type with the stitches on the inside of the wheel just like the original. It was a real pain to work my way around the wheel tightening the stitches, but the results are still very nice. The only color I saw was black, but it could still look good, and there might be other colors available. I found it at Pep Boys.

I'm on my second steering wheel because of the peeling problem... I got the first replaced under warranty. Anyway, when this one gets bad (which I'm sure it will), I'm taking off the existing leather wrap, and putting on a wheelskin....

I'm sure it'll look good put OVER the existing wrap, but I think it would probably look more professional to take the existing one off.. I don't know. I am curious to know if anyone has taken theirs off?

Considering the photo looks like it's just dirt, I must second teh Magic Eraser suggestion. I have used it several times on several cars and it works fantastic. It'll make that steering wheel look like brand new!!
