I'm doing the brakes today. My Haynes manual says the torque specs for the hub nut (changing front rotors) is...

step 1: 17-25 ft-lbs

step 2: loosen 1/2 turn

step 3: 18-20 in-lbs

Is step three correct or a typo? Seems a little weak for the only thing holding the front wheel on.

Also, anybody know the torque specs for the rear drum wheel cylinders? This time the Haynes manual says "see specs in the front of the chapter" but there is no listing for them.

thanks

Step one is to preload the bearings. Step three is to set them at the required torque load. Be shure to rotate the hub while doing both torque steps...

edit; tighten the rear wheel cylinders with a hand wrench, tight but dont overdo it, youll be ok...
