Tried the SEM 38533 and it was too dark. Anybody bought something at Autozone or Pepboys that matched. I also understand that the Florida sun has lightened up my paint some. I want to paint my nerf bars. Any suggestions will help. Thanks!!

I bought some custom mixed to match paint from Colormatch [a Dupont Paint Jobber] in Madison, TN 615-868-8704 back in 2003 for my 2001 nerf bars, they came out w/a camera & shot the color from my nerf bars.

Here is everything it says on the label they put on the can:

C9842J Cost Code: CRONAR Alt: V

Car: Ford

Code: AL

Color: Med Dark Truffle

Good luck!

I was too for 2 years, I would bring every can of grey that an auto parts store had out to my nerf bars to compare, but couldn't find one. If you had a spray gun this would do. I just used a sponge brush & suited my needs for touch ups.

No need for a spray gun. You can have paint specially mixed to your needs and than have the shop put it in a regular spray can for you at some extra cost. At least, that's possible here on Curacao. And if something is possible on this tiny island, than you can most certainly get it in the US!

I've had paint mixed for me and put in spray cans to touch up parts of cars, my boat ect. Keep in mind that not all paints hold up well on plastic, you might want to use a special primer first.

they make the color based on your Vin number and sell it in spray cans !!

Would that plus a clear coat be a good match to factory paint? I can't imagine it would look very good, but I would prefer to use body color instead of black if possible. Anybody have experience?
