I have 4.10s ready to go for my gear swap does any have a write uo on this. is it a hige PITA with it being a independent rear. should i just pay someone to do it?

The service manuals have good info, (I have a set of 2007 for sale) but special tools are needed.

DTS and other mail away places doo great jobs, But the bearings and bushings require special install tools.

IT can be done on a bench, Blue Oval auto in MI posts all the time on FB about it.

I just changed mine in the black truck and I have some of the special tools required.

ALSO are you 4wd ?? if so you have to do the front too to use it. IF 2wd then your fine.

3:55 to 4:10 in this truck due to the High first gear ratio in the transmission you will loose some performance in First gear ( gain a TON of torque !!) and then 2nd and 3rd will be noticeable gains....

Its not going to add 1 second in the 1/4 mile but it will help....

I may just install Blacks old 3:73 rear in Blue... LOL

What are the special tools? I may check around on prices for install as I have a new 1 week old daughter that keeps me busy now with her older sister. That could be why I'm writing this at 4 am lol.

A ford manual would help, I have 1 for sale... (shameless plug).

But presses for the bearings, seal installers, Special 2 piece seals, the case spreader ( as per ford), Dial indicator, and other tools needed to properly swap gears.
