I need to replace my brake pads and rotors on my 07 ST V8 Limited. Looking to buy quality. Any recommendations on brand, etc.? Or, should I just go to my local automotive and not get crazy about this?

I went with the Wagner ThermoQuiet pads and had the rotors turned from my old '07 ST. I got everything ready last spring thinking my '10 would be due for brakes after 40k miles of commuting. Nope- brakes still going strong with 58k miles!

Another member pointed out NAPA Premium rotors which look very nice. Tire Rack site also has choices on rotors and pads. My truck's at 60K with plenty of brake life remaining, but am considering an upgrade from stock.

Sloted or diled rotors are ok. If you want short pad life.

Dont use drilled. Unless they are cyro-treated. Drilled on the street is not needed.

Im running oem rotors and performance friction pads. The pads are carbon metalic. They dont heat fade. They stop excellent when they get warmed up.

I agree with Eddie. Cross drilled rotors are not necessary for street driving.

Just be sure to open the bleed nut when you push the pistons back into the calipers. You don't want that dirty contaminated fluid going back up into the ABS system were it can cause some very expen$ive damage. And after the brake job, you should flush out all the old brake fluid, which means bleeding the brakes at all four wheels.

Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the atmosphere which corrodes the calipers and wheel cylinders. The fluid needs to be replaced every 2-3 years, so it just makes sense to do it when you do a brake job.

Did my brakes front and rear yesterday with no issues. New rotors and pads all the way around. Went with Autozone stuff and it seems fine. Bought their rotors and best pads they sold...it is amazing that I have paid someone to do this job in the past. I realize it's worth the money when you have a problem but these could not have been more straight forward then this...and I am certainly not a master mechanic by any means.
