Does anyone have some good pictures of the rear axle showing brake line and parking brake cable route? I am doing a disk conversion on my ST and would like some pics before I start. Or if anyone has done this conversion do you have any pics or tips?

Caymen I have a question for you.. In your project you say to use left and right brake hoses. Can I ask why you could not just run the hard line straight into the caliper like the drum setup?

Thanks,

Chad

Brake calipers move, steel lines dont. You ned flex hoses to allow the caliper to move and it will make it easier to change pads when the time comes. Also, calipers use banjo bolts as opposed to drums using line fittings.

Thanks I did not think about the calipers moving that much. Do you know by chance if the parking brake cables from a 4 door Explorer will work? The local pick and pull has a bunch of Explorers but no ST's to pull a E-brake cable from.

And do you have any pics of finished project? Showing the brake lines? if not I will take some pics and you can add them to your project on here.

Any updates to better clarify the project would be much appreciated. I have to do this at some point because drum brakes are no good when you get mud in them a bunch of times. The mud tends to stay in there and wear out the shoes faster.

Yes I will take alot of pics so a more detailed project will be completed. I will likely post it on the explorer forum since there is already a project here.

I used cables from a 2003 Trac. I do not think Explorer cables will work because of the length.
