Need Widows XP update info

I need one of our gurus' to explain in laymans terms, update KB971029. I understand most. I just dont see it as a security update. Im leary of what will I have to do when I insert a cd/dvd or a usb device. I dont ever insert anything from another computer. Unless I know the computer owner keeps theirs as clean as I do.

If I'm understanding it correctly. When you insert a CD/DVD/USB device the computer searches for an autorun file and proceeds to execute whatever instructions are listed in there. They could run a malicious script or they could just auto play a movie. This update removes this autorun ability from all USB devices and only allows CD/DVD's to autorun.

I think that clears it up, I hope. There was a confussion in the kb971029 article. If it would stop auto-run on movies some cd's, restore disc, etc.
