Yesterday evening on the way home from work, stuck in stop-and-go freeway traffic, the Temperature display in my ST read 132 degrees for several seconds. I'm sure that was at least in part because of the slow traffic and the hot asphalt, but that's the highest I've ever seen it. (The official high yesterday in Phoenix was 114.) By the time I got home (the last ~5 miles on 45mph surface streets), the display was down to 115. And yes, the ST's AC was able to handle it, though it helps that I am able to park in a covered parking garage at work. It would surely have to work much harder if I had to park in the sun all day.

No one here would complain if some of you wanted to send rain and cooler weather our way! :)

Thats hot.......

I am going to be in the Palm Springs area (LaQuinta) the first part of August, celebrating my 40th anniversary. I wonder how hot I will see my temp sensor read? I'll post if it is exceptionally high.

:)

98 degrees in Seattle is NOT the same as 98 degrees in Phoenix.

I'll take dry heat over humidity any day of the week.

Bill V-glad to see you the new resident smart as*...LOL

The others have been banned from the site. Don't follow their foot steps as you really do seem to be a nice guy hiding behind the screen.

I'm thankful for the rain we are having this week and weekend, should bring our temperatures down a bit here in Phoenix. I unfortunately have to park my truck outside, so I hate going somewhere mid day when the trac has been roasting all morning. In fact, that is why I am in right now. Been here 22 years now and still can't deal with the heat.

SST--No, I'm not heading down that route. I just remembered hearing that comeback line a few years ago from a comedian who was talking about the whole "but it's dry heat" excuse people in Phoenix use to rationalize their heat tolerance, and had to plagiarize it here, as it seemed way too appropriate. :)

It was 98-100 (37-38 C) here in Poland the past two days. It's really miserable, since no one has air conditioning here. I am looking forward to some snow this winter. I can deal with cold and snow!

Its been so hot here in phx lately that when I went up north this weekend to the sedona area it felt great outside in the high 90's, it was nice I thought... But the snow... never! 100 or so, no problem, under 50 and Im bundled up and shaking all day... Guess you get used to it living here all your life.

Wow...this has actually been a cool summer for East Texas. Of course, that's because it's rained at least a little bit almost every day since the 1st of June. I had 16 inches of rain during June and am already up to nearly 13 for July. The 2 months together are more than our total last year...it was a dry year. And, we usually go without rain in July. Oh well...I would rather have the rain and clouds keeping things cooler than the dry, burned up 100 degree plus days we had from May-October last year.

I was in Kuwait back in 98' the corpsman would take a black bulb temp reading everyday at 11am. The average temperature for the four and half months I was there was 150 degrees. If I recall correctly the black bulb temp takes into account the air temp, humidity, wind speed, and the radiant ground temp.

LOL. MAC brings up a good point. None of us should be complaining when our troops are in hell.

How in the heck can those Iraqis keep fighting in 115 degree temps and only 2-3 hours of electricity (air conditioning) a day? They must be nuts! At those temps, I would become quite passive...
