an article in todays local long island newspaper indicate that sales are increasing on long island this year.

jan through july of this year show 102,931 new car registrations. up from 89,615 all of last year.

the top breakdown is:

honda 16,325

nissan 12,663

toyota 11,698

hyundai 6,915

ford 6,162

m-benz 5,214

chevy 4,882

jeep 4,064

lexus 3,733

bmw 3,660

hyundai was the biggest increase with nearly a 55% increase from last year. ford was up 36%.

i am curious to see how other regions buying trends are.

*edit--do not interpret as a mfg favorite. want to see how other parts of the country are buying. * :driving:

This thread will go political.

Here are my predictions...

1, Obama's stimulis package worked amd here is proof.

2, Obama's stimulis package did not work and the free market is finally working since he hasn't done anything to stimulate the economy at this time.

Surprised that more M-Benz were registered than Chevy. I don't think that will hold for most regions of the country. I'm not sure that the Long Island consumer is typical of the rest of us.
