Ok Just after I got my 10" kicker mounted in a box a new design came out. It is a Tympani LAT system. The PVL-5 is a push pull desgn that is 7" long and is compared to pushing TWO 10" subs, and the bigger PLV-7 is compared to Two 12" subs...

I don't believe everything I read. But ALPINE has a PLV-5 (on crutchfield for $599) that is a powered band pass box with a 500 watt amp that measures 21-5/8" W x 13-3/8" H x 8-7/8" Deep at the bottom & 6-3/16 at the top!!!

This could fit behind the back seat with very little modification right??

I am trying to get a connection I have to get me a raw speaker driver so I can try to build a box to go under the 40% side for the PVL-5.

IF ANYBODY BUYS ONE OF THESE PLEASE POST ABOUT IT ASAP.

some companies do make shallow mount subs......and where are you going to fit that whole setup with dimesions of :

Width 21-5/8"

Height 13-3/8"

Depth 8-7/8"

I thought if putting 10" Rockford Phase 1's behind the seat with a mounting depth of 5", and the space needed for the speaker excursion (without hitting the back of the seat) that the Alpine might have fit too...

Once Tympani leases the technology to other companies or just releases the raw speaker (under the name Peerless or Vifa or whatever) this should be able to fit in a custom box under the 60% side of the seat.

The box just doesn't have the right design to fit behind the seat. There is a funny notch in the back panel that that box would not allow for.
