my mom went out and traded her 2000 honda accord ex coupe for a 2005 Sport Trac XLS. unfortunately its one of those that are pretty simple. not really loaded so i will be looking for cheap parts to buy if any of you wanna help me out with OEM parts that you dont need. i will be looking for a tonneau cover, nerf bars, engine tool tray.

Great news, nice looking Trac, it's the XLS model right? Look throughout the S&S board and also check out craigslist ads for any cities within like a 100 mile radius you'll be amazed what you'll find. Too bad she didn't wait, she could've bought Bernards from him for really cheap. I like that color on the ST's, gives the a military look. Well you already know alot of what you could change on hers from shocks, end links, etc. just to make it safer and handle better. Glad to have another ST in the site family.:haveabeer::supercool:

it is a very good looking trac, tomorrow i will take pics and upload. it has very unique custom pinstriped design graphics which make it stand out. and i wasnt aware bernard was selling his. the dark stone is very good looking paint job, only for 2005 models too, the metallic clear coat really shines at night and makes the truck look black. very clean. engine is clean, tires new, inside is all original. it is the XLS unfortunately and has 80k

well i drove it and compared to my 2001. she feels very smooth with stock suspension.

Smoothness is not what is in question. Most all members on this board dumped the stock shocks on the gen 1. The problem is too soft. No roll control at speed. Heavy nose dive on braking. Excessive lean on curves. Too much bounce from the rear on some rough roads.

I noticed all this when I took my trac home. Changed the shocks at 1500miles. Ford put soft shocks on the gen 1. Too make it ride less like a truck. But it compromised decent control. I would wager that the majority of trac roll overs. Still had stock shocks and got into a precarious road condition.

Monroe sensa-tracs are a good shock for better control, with-out rough ride. Monroe reflex are stiffer. The reflex is what I have, but in the rancho rsx version.

Monroe has their buy 3 get one free right now.

well im fixing to replace my factory shocks on my '01 i swear i feel like a lil boat in a hurricane out in the middle of the ocean. but as for my '05 it definitely feels better than the '01 so i think ill will wait to get the ranchos rs5000 on that one

I think the rs5000 is also on the 4 for 3 list. Monroe and Rancho are both made by Tenneco. Not sure of the cut off date. Mid month I think.

The difference in the shocks on hers and yours is hers is 4 years newer so not as much wear on them. Also check the shocks on hers they might already have been changed at 80k miles. I looked at an XLS and an XLT model when we bought mine and the main thing that made me get the XLT was the 4wd. The XLS was 2wd and had the moonroof along with the bedcover. I'll look up here for parts for ya. :haveabeer::supercool:
