So i've got an 02 trac with the pioneer system, 6 disc etc, the sub that came with it just wasnt up to snuff so my buddy and i got about to tearing it out, turns out the sub is weak but the box is pretty damn decent. ran off to my local audio shop and picked up a JL 6W0 (zero) and a kicker 200.2 amp along with some misc wires. came back home, dynamat'd the inside of the box, figured out the trick to getting the JL to fit... take the beauty ring (doesnt matter, cant see the sub box anyhow) and flip it upside down. gives you just enough of a spacer to fit the JL into the stock box, ran the wiring including a PL2 and wala. that box is delish, just thought i'd share, i know i'm new but those of you who are too or dont know a whole lot about audio might want to think twice before dumping the stock setup, it fits too well!:D

pics later this week (camera battery died :( )

Maybe he transferred the idea from this (see link) or hopefully used it. Otherwise, while the setup may not be optimal, if he's happy with the result then it's ok.

dynamat is a sound deadner...it is made to keep the frequencies your speakers put out, in your vehicle and road noise out.

If an enclosure is built correctly for a certain speaker, you wouldn't need get back wave distortion.

its a hollow plastic box, yes i dynomatted the inside of it.

if ford had built the box for a decent sub i would have been fine, unfortunately they built it (good design b-c rated material) for a weak ass sub. More boom = need for mo betta box. easy way to improve it and get rid of bad resonance. it worked great :)
