I had the stock tires (Wranglers) and at 65K they were worn. My mechanic told me that I had a good 6-10K left, but with the NE winters, I decided to upgrade and went with the Michelin Cross Terrain. All that I can say is "WOW!!!" I have always read posts on this board about how people rave about new tires (Michelin Cross Terrain's and Bridgestone Dueler), so add me to the list of fans of this specific tire. The service manager at Sears told me these tires are just about indestructible and he thought one of the best tires out there. I got then for $145. When he asked me what tires I was interested in, and I said the Michelin's and the Birdgestones and laughed and said, "You've done your research and picked two very good tires". Add the balance and front end alignment and the ST is running better then ever on the Highway. I hit 70-75 now and do not feel any vibration at all. And, it seems to be a little bit quieter. I don't know if others have had that opinion.

I don't get to provide much input into this site, but I love coming out here a few times a week to read the posts. Thanks to those who provide such great information.

Regards,

Dan

I'm one of those Cross Terrain ravers. Best tires I've ever had in the 40 years I've been driving. Even after 2-1/2 years and 51,700 miles on the original set, I have to really try to get them to break loose on wet pavement. The ABS system never kicks in. When it's time for a new set, I'm not sure what I'll get. I did notice though that there are some rated higher on Tirerack.com.

Our original Michelins lasted 101,000 miles before we changed them out. They even passed safety inspection at 95,000, so we weren't riding around on bald tires. The only reason we didn't put the same tire back when we changed them was we needed new tires and other expenses got in the way of the Michelins. The tires we bought only cost half as much, but they'll probably only last half as long, too.

My wife LOVED the cross-terrains that I put on her Liberty. They looked like new with 38,000 miles on them when we traded it last week.

Michelin/BF Goodrich tires are miles ahead of Firestone/Bridgestone. Of course all tire companies make cheap crappy tires, but the mid and high line tires of these two are some of the best.

Now, have you upgraded your shocks? I was similarly skeptical about the shocks until I replaced my OEM shocks with 20,000 miles. It was like a whole new vehicle!!!
