You can damage the finwire tip and or cause the platinum coating to flake at the bend on the ground electrode. A quality plug should come “pre gapped” for the application. Always check the gap before installing, if they are not what you want or extremely close (you have a daily driver not a race truck) then return them for another that is what you want. </p><p>Getting bounced around or dropped at the parts store can close the gap if the ground electrode is hit.
