I don't follow either team, but it is still impressive.

Can you imagine the odds against something like this happening. I would have LOVED to had 10 dollars bet on a no hitter of the first game of the series, I bet it would payout pretty good...

Here is the blurb on it..

Phillies' Halladay no-hits Reds in playoff opener.

Roy Halladay of the Phillies pitched the second no-hitter in Major League Baseball postseason history on Wednesday as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-0 in their National League Division Series opener.

Halladay, making his first postseason start in his 12-year career, struck out eight and walked one.

The only blemish on his night was a two-out walk on a 3-2 pitch to Jay Bruce in the Reds' half of the fifth inning.

There were at least two hard hit balls against Halladay. Reds pitcher Travis Wood lined to right in the third. In the fourth inning, Reds star Joey Votto hit a hard grounder between second and third base that Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins fielded and threw to first for the out.

On May 29, Halladay threw a perfect game against the Florida Marlins, the 20th perfect game in major league baseball history. On the night he struck out 11 batters.

The only other no-hitter in playoffs history was a perfect game thrown by the Yankees Don Larsen, who won Game 5 of the 1956 World Series, defeating the Brooklyn Dodgers 2-0.

In Game 2 of the series, the Phillies will start Roy Oswalt against Cincinnatis Bronson Arroyo on Friday at 6:07 p.m. ET

I'm with you Coastiejoe not, my team either, but i am a baseball fan.

And it was amazing to see some of the pitches, he had some wicked control of the ball...

Congrats to him...

GOTTA LOVE THE GAME!!!!

2 great games pitched yesterday. Just wish Liriano of my Twins wouldn't have fallen apart in the 6th. :banghead::banghead:

I'm just tickled to see the Rangers starting to really shine! :supercool: Two more games like they played yesterday, and they'll keep moving up!

....And it wasn't blown by an umpire....

No, that waited until Day 2 of the ALDS games, when three blown calls affected the outcome of all three games. Man, was it ever a lousy day of umpiring....

Bill, did you happen to catch the article on Gardy's ejection in the star trib today? The two have a little history together.

Andy, I not only saw the article, but remembered that history even prior to the article.

So many people in baseball want to come to the umps' defense, and saying that they're high quality, and that they do the best that humans can, blah blah blah. That's all hogwash. Wendlestedt (sp?) is about as bad as it comes, has been for years, and is exhibit A for the prosecution when baseball falsely claims that there are rigorous systems in place to assure umpiring quality control.
