Odd MAF meter ,on my trac

I was just doing some work on my '04 trac. I had the mass air flow meter out. I still have the oem unit. I used my telescoping vernier and messured the throat, at the narrowest point. 3 times I come out with 73mm. I thought our oem MAF was 63mm..:huh:

OEM is 70-71..... It necks down at the sensor causing the restriction...in the area where it connects to the intake is about 3 inches.....



So yes the MAF we sell is only 73 MM but it removes all the restriction on the inside...

That is what Iam saying. Mine is 73mm (72.87mm) at the sensor location. It is larger than that at the inlet and exit ID. That why I said it must be an odd-ball.

A freind of mine that builds ford engines and races a 9second mustang. He was going to give me a OEM 73mm MAF body. It turns out I had the same thing.

The maf I took off my 03 is also 73 mm, just checked.

The three I have here at the smallest point are all smaller then 73.....

I have 1 off each 01-04....
