I'm driving to S. Caroline next weekend and the condition of my '07 Limited OEM Michelin Cross Terrians worries me. 22K miles with 3/16 tread left . Still 2 Yrs left on 6 yr warranty. Anyone had this problem? will I be wasting my time trying to get an adjustment? All four tires have similar cracking.....check my library....

Not at all unusual for those tires on that vehicle. My '07 Limited V8 had similar issues. I want to say I made it to 26k or so before they were bald (rotated and correct pressures ran all the time). I contacted Michelin, and they offered to pro-rate them for me, which ended up being about 30 bucks a tire if I bought the same tire to replace them with. I politely refused their offer and bought a set of Goodyear Fortera Silent Armors and they have been a great tire. I'm sure someone will have something bad to say about Goodyear though, as tires are like that. Someone gets a bad tire or a bad set and then every tire that manufacturer makes is the worst tire ever.

I still buy Michelin's for my wife's car. I just feel that the Cross Terrains that come stock on the ST are not rated for a vehicle that heavy, and thus the rapid wear out. The Cross Terrain tire that came on my '07 is the same tire that came on my 2001 ST as well stock. One the '01 the tire lasted a lot longer than on the '07.

i had an 07 lmtd V-8 and my stocks were fine until i decided to upgrade to a larger tire at approx 32k. the original's still had life on them.

mich makes a very good tire and i have put them on my current. so far the latitude tires are nice & provide great wet traction. will have to see how they do in snow.

imo, tires that wear like the pic above is not mormal in 3 years.

I wonder what the prodution date on the tires are. Anycase I would dump them, before I drove at highway speeds.

I got 39K out of mine before I took them to Discount Tire Company who called Michelin and they gave me a GREAT Warranty rebate towards a new set of tires. I decided to go with the Long Trails and got a set mounted and balanced for @249.00 (after $50) rebate. Personally I thought I did pretty darn good considering that I got almost 40K out of the Michelins.

My advice is go to Discount Tire Company and ask them to help you redeem mileage the warranty from Michelin. It worked out very well for me....

My '07s Michelins were nearly bald by 22,000 miles. At least yours have a little tread left. Junk tires.

Now I got 'em on my '10. I've very interested to see if Michelin fixed the problem.

I've had the Cross-Terrains on other vehicles and got nearly 70,000 miles out of them. Not sure why the OEM tires are so crappy on our tracs.

Any '09 or '10 Trac owners have any experience to report on the OEM michelins?

HaHaHaHa, another one. Mine were shot at 17K miles (2008 Limited V8). Did all the right stuff, air pressure, rotate, no burnouts, but a little spirited driving. Went with Toyos and Bridgestones(winter) very happy after 2 years. I guess you can make the trip, but your gonna be due for new doughnuts before the winter! Bob

Thanks for the responses.....I'm not complaining about mileage....plenty of tread left....prob good for another 40K. These are the worst looking tires (but the most expensive)I have ever had, with the cracking and all I think they have to be replaced.. Michelin says cracking is not a problem and will not adjust for new ones. I'm thinking about Michelin Tour Latitudes ($611.84, $139.00 ea + s/h) from Tire Rack. But being bit once I might go with Khumo Solus KR21 locally for $107.00 ea.....what do you think?

If michelin won't stand 100% behind thier product, I'd be leary of buying another set from them!! My Toyo's still look brand new after 2 seasons on the truck(no dry rot or cracking) and still have 3/4's of the tread left. Proxes STII- $129/tire mounted/balanced. Bob
