'01 models had 2 versions...Job 1's were made prior to July 2001, I believe, and Job 2's after. Just minor differences like with the TB cover and some small things in the engine bay.

New for Job 2:

Exterior:

Silver Frost (TS) added as an exterior color

Front license plate bracket standard (where required)

Transfer case skid plates standard on 4x4

16" Cast aluminum wheels made standard

P235/70R16 All-Season OWL tires standard

Mandarin Gold (B6) deleted as an exterior color

16" All-Terrain standard tires deleted

15" wheels deleted as standard

Interior:

Dual Media (CD/cassette) replaces single CD as standard Audio System

Some exterior colors limited to a single interior color

Functional:

5-speed manual transmission standard

4.0L SOHC V-6 flex fuel capable with automatic transmission

3200# payload package made standard

3.73 Axle standard

Options:

6-Disc In-Dash CD available with Pioneer Sound System (6-speakers and a subwoofer)

Automatic transmission required for Comfort Group, Premium Sport Group, Leather Comfort Group, Power Moonroof and 6-Disc In-Dash CD Sound System

Engine block heater standard in Twin Cities Region

High-Series floor console now standard with Cloth Comfort Group

Payload Package deleted

Misc:

Odometer features black numerals on a white background, replaces white numbers on black background

Oil fill moved to passenger side of the engine

Misaligned fuel filler door hinge fixed

Throttle Body/Intake beauty cover reduced in size

Valve covers now made of plastic composite, replaces aluminum valve covers

About this time Ford also introduced three trim levels to the ST, Value, Choice, and Premium. At this time options were not limited to certian trim levels, a trim level was a simple way for a dealer to order ST's with preconfigured options.

Approimate change-over date: 06/26/2000

Sport Tracs built before 06/26/00 are considered to be Job 1's, after Job 2. While the above changes are general guidelines, it is not a definite structure. For instance, some Job 2's came with 15" wheels, etc.

The only discrepancy with Tiger's list above is that all Sport Trac's came standard with white faced gauges with black lettering including Job-1's (I had a Job-1 built June 6, 2000) There has only been one new Sport Trac reported here by a member that was erroneosly built with black face gauges (from the standard Explorer)

The easiest way to tell a Job-1 from a Job-2 is by the engine. Job-2's have a smaller cover over the throttle body/intake and the oil filler cap is on the passenger side of the engine. Only Job-1 had standard 15" chromed steel wheels with 16" alloy wheels as an option. Job-2 dropped the 15" wheels and 16" wheels have been standard ever since then.

Also, the exact Job-1/Job-2 date was June 24, 2000. All Sport Tracs made prior to June 24th were Job-1. Everything made after June 24th were Job-2's

I think Tiger was talking about the Odometer not the whole gauge area. And my Job 2 and at lest one other member came w/ 15" steel wheels. My BD was 8/00.

Sorry Tiger. You did say Odometer but I thought your were referring to the instrument faces.

As for the two people who got 15" wheels on their Job-2s; Did you buy your Sport Trac new and did your window stickers actually show the 15" wheels as standard equipment? I'm wondering if the dealer may have done a switch-a-roo, or if it was a factory mix up

I did not buy new but got from neighbor who was original owner. I also have the window sticker which list 15" styled steel wheels.

I have a Job 1 style engine bay, but a Job 2 style odometer background. Build date for mine was 06/00 according to door jam sticker.

Jade was built August 23, 2000. I'm second owner. I had a complete readout of all standard and optional equipment by VIN from the dealer when I went in for recall work. 15s were the factory size. The sticker on the door also says 235/75R15.

Michelle, that's what Ford says....it also says Late Availability for the FFV engine. But no more mention of an FFV capable engine until MY 2004. I think it might've been a localized thing, sell the FFV equipped ones to those states that crow a lot or corn and what not.
