This morning, my driver's door auto locks didn't auto lock. The servo is working. So, I took the door panel off to inspect. I found the servo has broken off the point where it rivets to the door. The first pic below shows what it looks like. The second pic is of the passenger side, which is what it's supposed to look it.

Any suggestions how to fix that? I'd love to drill out the rivet and use a fender washer and short screw to fix it.

I was going to wait until tomorrow to work on this, but you know, I'm a guy and there's no better time than now. I decided the fender washer idea wouldn't work due to the size of the hole... there's no way the mounting bracket of the servo can get any support. Plan B: Raid a metal scrap dumpster. I did that and almost fell in. It's risky when the business is open. I got a 1" by 4" by 1/8" strip of steel. Made a bracket and pop riveted it as shown in the below pic. Now, tomorrow, I'll get a steel expanding pop rivet and mount the servo.

There we go. I got the rivet at a body shop and they "popped" it for me. Now, just to fill the hole with a little black silicone sealant.

Amazing how much force these failure prone actuators with nylon gears can exert to tear sheet metal like that. Nice work!
