Did exactly the same thing with a big stainless steel gas grill. The perfect size and the folded cover helped to hold it all tighter.

Eddie, it is a sticker. I'll probably get it removed next spring when I get the vehicle detailed to clean off the winter crud. I'm not much on doing anything that could damage the paint. I'd like to de-badge the tailgate too, but I don't want to mess it up and wind up having to get it repainted.

The sooner you get that stuff off the tailgate, the less chance you have of it messing it up. The longer it's on there, the worse it's gonna be!

Those dealer emblems are easy to remove... the ones on my wife's Escape came off just by simply warming it a bit with a hair dryer, then waxing off the sticky residue.

I was gonna use the old hairdryer trick to remove my dealer sticker, but it peeled right off easily and left no residue at all. Must not have been on there very long before I bought it.
