This is waaay off topic but does anyone know the federal regulations on how long a phone company has to repair a T1 line? The company where I work has a T1 for phone service and it went down about 2pm yesterday. It is still down now and it seems as though Verizon is in no hurry to fix it. My office is closed for the weekend but I need to make sure this is up for Monday morning. I know that the FCC says the company must respond to the problem within 1 hour but are there any mandates on how long they have to repair the problem. BTW, I believe it was caused by a Verizon tech while he was working on the box outside and Verizon says there is a problem in the box.

I can't imagine there would be a regulation for a specific amount of time. The repair will take as long as it takes. If Verizon is failing to respond quickly enough I would think the most you would have is a customer service complaint. I do know that by law if you press the issue Verizon must deduct the amount of time from your bill for the failed service assuming it is a Verizon problem. I know here in Florida we deal with these issues all the time with the hurricanes cable, internet, phone and electricity and there is no law that says how long the company has to make a repair.

I know my office trailers T1 line is being "repaired" for 2 weeks now... We are running 256K for the last 2 weeks... IT SUCKS !!!!

AND so does verizon....

It all depends on the contract with the providing company.

And the priority you pay for. At my base it usually is fixed inside a day. but there is no one there on the weekends. that may be another part of the Equation

I know if a T-1 goes down on my base. they have to get it running ASAP. We had all 5 t-1's go down during a large rain storm. but not a lot SNET could do.. The manhole they were in was flooded. and everything with ina 2 mile radius was down..

in (flori duh) all you can do is ask for credit for the time your service was out and file a complaint with the public service commission you can also file a claim with your phone co to be reimbursed for any $$ lost while your lines were down

For the company I work for it depends. average repair is with in 24-48 hrs (but not necessarily that long) Something that is area wide and a major problem requiring upgrading equiptment or such may take longer.
