Did you install new drivers for the flat panel monitor? If so, there might be a conflict, but I doubt it.

Would sooner think it is coincidental. Can you try the mouse on another computer or a known to be working mouse from another computer on the affected computer?

USB mouse? If not get one as it is plug and play, hot swappable and instantly recognizable. To get your mouse working try doing a complete shut down. Don't restart but actually shut down for a few minutes then boot up.

Me says "shutdown for a few minutes"

Ah, why? Wouldn't a shutdown then power-up, or a restart for that matter work just fine?

A theraputic reboot is always a good thing, but being powered off for minutes isn't required.

(unless you know something about computers that I just don't....always looking for something new to learn).

Actually, sometimes a complete disconnect of the power cable for 30 seconds, pushing the power button, and then plugging it back in, and turning on may initiate a refresh sequence in some computers. It may need to do with ACPI or a system management processor that may be installed, but if you're not sure, give it a whack.

As for the mouse not working, one shouldn't affect the other, but it may be an issue with the monitor displaying the cursor. You did install the monitor driver right?

Do you have specifics on the mouse and monitor, what version of Windows? optical, wireless, etc...

I've found that the Logitech cordless mice don't work well when plugged into the USB port. I usually use the USB-PS2 adapter that comes with the mouse and plug the receiver unit into the PS2 mouse port on the computer.

Have you tried to "re-sync" the mouse to the pc? I have a Logitech mouse (several of them, actually) - never had an issue with USB, but I have with the wireless keyboards (I won't use those anymore...)

And check the batteries.

I do the same as Todd C. with the USB/ps2 adapter. Why use up a USB port when you have a port dedicated to something you generally don't unplug.

I have a microsoft wireless optical, and it has a reset button on the receiver.

Wireless keyboards are crap, and a security risk.
