OT-ford contour ignition key wont come out

have work vehicle 2002 contour i believe and the ignition key

wont come out, any ideas?

Can you turn it back on, shift back to drive or neutral then back into park. May not have fully engaged in park?

is it an automatic? if it is, make sure the car is in park...if it is, it may be a bad shifter position sensor

sorry cant help you on why it is stuck but mine (on my st) was stiff and i but graphite powder in the key hole and its all smooth now.

I have a 98 contour and mine has done same thing before. Pry the cover off the shifter and down inside is a little switch that you must put a certain way to fix the problem . Keep treying and you will figure it out. Has something to do with the brake and shifting into park if its an auto.

couldnt get it out and they called the motor pool to come and tow it in.
