Where I used to live, we would have fights between the local gangs. We would call the police and say there were gang fights and the police would say they have nobody available to breat it up.



A neighbor said "Watch this" he called the police and reported that the fight is now involving bikers and they have guns.



There were police there in less than 2 minutes.

Awesome..... Just.... wow. Love it! Nothing like a good armed citizen story to make the locals go nuts before the national media. Especially when the citizen is not armed.... make the cops be the "bad guys" for not showing up for a measly burglary....

If the guy got any trouble about the "false report", all he had to do was pull out his camera and claim "but I DID shoot them--half a roll of film! But I left the flash off so as to not scare them off before you arrived, so I don't know if they'll turn out."

Sadly in my rural area you could call back and claim that you were in a fierce shoot out with them and it might still be an hour to get someone there. I know that many larger departments have CAD (computer aided dispatch systems) that automatically prioritize calls and that often results in a slow response, the dispatcher may say that no one is in the area but what they mean is that there is no one free at the moment. Obvious several units will be immediately cleared of other complaints if there is a shots fired complaing. I would hope that a theft in progress would get a fairly high rating but obviously not as high a rating as some others.



In rural departments like mine there really often is nobody in the area so that is not always a lie. Our county is the size of Rhode Island in area and to drive from one end to the other it takes over 2 hrs. With only three guys covering the whole county at one time there may very well be no one nearby.
