We have a security light in the back yard that looks like a gaslight. I think either the bulb, ignitor, or ballast is bad. Of course, the easiest to swap out is the bulb.
I always assumed it was a HPS (High Pressure Sodium) bulb.
Went to Home Depot to buy a new bulb. Well, looks like there are many different types of bulbs out there that look identical witht the same shape and base size.
How do I confirm that it is a sodium bulb and NOT a Mercury Vapor bulb or something else?
The writing on the old bulb is very difficult to read, even with my 20/15 vision. So matching numbers is not really an option. I do know it is a 50W bulb. That is all I can read on the bulb.
The lamp came with the house. The bulb has been on all night long, every day for at least the past 9 years when Theresa got the house.
Any help is appreciated...
