Overdrive Button Replacement

My overdrive button, which is located on the gear shifter on the 07 Sport Trac fell off a while back and is lost. I purchased a new one from Ford recently and it comes as the entire assembly, electrical wiring included. I have no problem doing to work, but was curious if anyone has done work to their gear shifter. Is it easy to remove so I can install the new button? Let me know, thanks!
