overdrive is gone

ST barely made it to work today. I took off from a red light as normal and it wouldn't shift out of 2nd. Then finally it jerked hard and shifted. Then as I got up to speed the overdrive light started blinking! My truck will not shift into overdirve. I'm taking it to the shop in the morning. Any ideas?

Have it taken to the shop asap something definitely wrong, hopefully its something simple

Make the shop your first stop. the infamous o/d blinking light of transmission death or near death...but hopefully not fatel. In that other post, that tranny fluid additive was for the some 04s and 05s if I recall correctly.

The shop called and a band is broken so It is time to rebuild. Gonna cost $1400 with 1yr warranty and unlimited mileage.
