Overdrive switch inop- 2005

The OD switch on my 2005 is inoperable. Overdrive works fine, pushing OD off gets no response and no light. I don't really care if it doesn't work, but is this a bad sign of trouble to come? Truck has 73k miles and is new to me.

check your fuse. It's the same fuse as your back up light.

On my '02 I had the same issue. It was the power wire connected to the switch inside. Apparently the shift grip had moved a bit from shifting and had pulled the wire apart from the actual switch.



Popped out the grip, removed switch and replaced it with one I found at PepBoys that fit perfect. Added a bit more wire to the stock power/ground leads and haven't had a problem since. Been about 2 years since I did this.
