I have a trac with the overhear console w/temp and compass, and the light went out. I tried replacing the bulb to no avail because from the looks of things there is a brass or copper ring that makes contact with the assembly that is broke. When i say broke i mean split in a couple places so i guess current is not going through. Is it possible to replace or repair this or what should i do . Thanks Shannon

The part that holds the two bulbs in is replaceable. I forgot how much it costs but its just a couple screws.

I don't think the split you see is the problem. Mine still works in this condition. The part that you see broke is non conductive. The bulb requires a different potential on each contact that touches the the foil strip that you see. I believe the part that separates is nothing more than a non-conductive strip that is used to hold the pieces together. As long as the base of the bulb touches the foil you should have no problem. Check for a poor ground.
