Just so you know, I have a problem with my paint. Maybe it started about 3 years after i got my ST (02 Black ST). At the time I thought that it was a paint problem... but turns out to be a primer problem. I contacted ford when it first happened, got no were with them. Their answer "truck is out of warranty and the paint was only covered for 3yrs/36000 miles" I wonder if this will change anything. I know about a year or two ago there were other members who had this problem. btw I started sanding my trac down, so I can repaint it, and noticed the cracks in the primer.

Did anyone ever get anywhere with ford about this issue?

Has anyone every roll painted a truck before? would like to know how it turned out.

Heres a link to what I'm talking about

Paint looks like this? like on my roof...it's worse now...these were from about a year ago.

IIRC, some have had thier Tracs repainted.

Of course, this was while it was under warranty.

A general rule of thumb is, even if it was bad from the factory on day one, if you do not address it during the warranty period, they have no reponsibility to fix it after the warranty.

yep that the problem!! All over my truck

No joke about the roll on job - I'm going to try it found a link to a F150

Ford/GM have covered paint problems (large scale recall - due to lawsuits) in the past, even if they where out of warranty. If I'm not mistaken they cover the cost of the paint

My hood looked that way at 35k. Had to fight to get them to fix it before 36k came. I'm now just over 91k, and my roof looks much worse than it did in those pictures.

Lots of paint problems lately on many different brands. Low VOC or waterbased paints (yes, waterbased) seem to be very troublesome.

Stupid tree-huggers...

hmm... i had that problem when i was getting my ST repainted when i got into a wreck...

but it was because there was too much moisture in the air when it was painted... or the paint was some how contaminated the cleared... so had to start over...

mine is flawless now...

even got 2 things of simoniz for free :)

Sorry guys I'm in the paint business and this is a ford/ paint suppier/ application problem trust me. Cracking is not caused by moisture! what a crock of bull. Poor aplication!!!. A guy that worked for us had a rep for Gm tell him that they were aware and painted those who complained loudest..... Ford has the same problems trust me. Excuse me but Bitch like hell and get them to stand behind their work! warranty my !@##$%^ poor workmanship!!!!! Ford fess up and fix it. If its not on all trucks what else could it be??
