Has anyone painted the lower front bumper, rear bumper, and lower side mouldings (you know, the flat grey plastic...) and if so, did you have it done or was it a simple do it yourself project? Has anyone has any problems with pealing or flaking of the paint? What is the procedure behind doing something like this?

My Sport Trac is going into the shop next weekend for a 3" body lift, new rims and tires...just thought that painting the grey plastic will really make the truck pop. Thanks.

Mine has been self-done about a year and a half, holding up great. There are a couple of scratch marks on the rear bumper from backing in to close to a cement wall, but other than that it has held up very well through high pressure car washes and many hand washings. Those marks are easy for me to touch-up, just haven't had the time lately.

The project details everything pretty good, it isn't very hard to do at all. Materials cost was less than $40.00 and a Saturday's worth of work.

Yeah, painted mine, Gloss black single stage Automotive body shop tools and paint..PPG paint

My cost was aprox 200 materials... Labor took me close to a week after work...

But i wanted the gloss look and no texture in the paint..

I do like the way Tom r's came out.!!!!!!!!!!
